Actually, those Automatic Updates come up after long times, i set it to remind me after ages and guess what? It came at the wrong moment. There was no way i could've known after ages of time when i thought it's done with.

Either way when i lost it, i learnt that it is so easy to be killed when your computer is crap and you got popups on your taskbar thing.

Had a guy in the alliance less than 100 points from what lvl 3 i think and died he sold all his stuff and quit gw. Whatta nub.

I've had two r1 survivors die. In each case I was experimenting to find more effecient survivor farms and greatly regretted the fact that I didn't let well enough alone. Both times I restarted the character the same day to help counter the sadness and regret with some positive activity. And typically I'll tell some of my closest GW friends so they can QQ with me. Last time I also changed the character's hairdo so I could tell myself that I killed the previous version for that purpose.

Beyond that, how quickly I start leveling the character up again depends entirely on how motivated I am to do all the nub isle stuff to get my character to my farm of choice (which is currently nm boxing). For me the nub isle stuff is the most tiring part because I'm the type of player that enjoys farming a particular spot a few times a day. So I never force myself to get my character beyond the superlow levels if I'm not in the mood for nub isle stuff.

Just turn off all background programs, including auto updates. Manually update later.

You can set the automatic updates to wait until you update them manually on your virus protection and most other background programs. The disadvantage is that you must check once per day for them, and update them, but that's easy, and a small price to pay for the safety of your survivor.

I cant imagine what it would be like losing a survivor, as I haven't tried, (well one half hearted attempt, got to level 6). But I guess it would be like doing 90% cartog and then not being able to complete it, sorry just another excuse to say I got tyrian cartographer ^_^.

it didnt happened to me-strange story and i dont know if he/she was joking, i was in PvP and i killed a wammo, then he PM'ED at me saying YOU STUPID @$$ YOU DESTROYED MY SURVIVOR TITLE I HATE YOU!!!!!! I hope he was joking, WHO THE HELL WILL TRY TO GET SURVIVOR IN PVP !!!!

I had a lvl 11 prophecies ranger that I tried to get survivor with, at the time I was just reported for his name, The Japslapper, and I was doing Canthan quests to lvl him up. I get the disconnection thing that happens when Anet suspends your account and three days later after I rechange his name and everything I find out he has exactly 1 death, I dunno if the lag from the disconnect let something kill me or if Anet hates me.

Yeah I sympathise it can be annoying , I lost it the 1st time while still only level 15 or so but my second try ended up with Legendary Survivor granted there where some near misses with game crashes but I was lucky. I also did it the hard way my questing and skill capping taking about 102 hours to get and finishing most of Cantha and Elona off with 0 deaths. Trying again with my Monk now farming the Jade Brotherhood in the marketplace quicker but gets dull fast and the feeling of accomplishment was better when I got it the hard way.

never tried for it, had a buddy at level 19 who died due to lag, he quit completely. yes he is a very sensitive person. the thing that bothered me is i gave him some loot and instead of returning it he trashed everything.

also because of all the leechers in factions battles i decided i didn't want to carry around a title that many people see as a leechers title. i know alot of players earn it, but alot also leech to get it.

as for me, i doubt i will ever go for it, i like to enjoy my games and the whole survivor thing just seems like it turns the game into a job or a chore. plus titles don't really hold much priority for me. i like the salvage title and other titles that give in game bonuses like lightbringer (margonite farming is EZ at holy rank).

games should not be stressful and survivor adds a bit to much stress for my tastes.

as for the op losing his/her title after 10 months, i feel bad for ya. hopefully it won't sour you on the game.

i want a title that increases my drop rate.

That's pretty much my only problem with it. :P It used to be pretty much known as a leech title. Now you can just grind your title with Kilroy, which is still pretty cheap, but at least they're doing it on their own time. Before that was enabled you got all these entitled (no pun intended) little princes and princesses who would join groups, wait until the mission/battle was underway, and THEN say they planned to leech XP. Or just never even moved.

People must really take Surviving seriously if they're willing to ragequit the entire game over it.

I was frenzying in Pre at lvl 4 when I got ganged by some bastards!

I think I won't remake the dude. I am not the biggest fan of the survivor title - I pretty much ONLY show it when I take the piccy - BUT I am somehow hooked on getting it - just because I KNOW I am good enough to get it.
I might get the survivor on my other warrior who is at like 600k xp and still hasn't died (I hate his name so I remade him) - but knowing me - now that I have a new toy in the form of this guy - I'll prolly end up deleting him in days!

My first time going for survivor on a mesmer I lost just before I reached r2 down to my own mistake; so I got over it in minutes.

Kept the character regardless, but made a second monk a few days after that and subconsciously ended up going for the title again as by level 15 i realised I hadn't actually died yet.

Didn't make the same mistake again, elite capped, Got r3 survivor, rejoice.

I logged on and started farming. A couple mins later I noticed my title bar wasn't going up. /death. WTF. I guess because I'm an idiot and didn't do the whole log out thing (I'd just smash the close button on my keyboard), I got killed without even knowing.

As much as I said I wouldn't restart the character...I WANT THAT DAMN TITLE.

I'm at 30k and on the move...Watch out
